7 Workout Tips

1. Dress Smart
If you're wearing clothes that are too thick or cumbersome you can't cool properly. Look for clothing that can breathe, like cotton, or that are specifically designed to wick moisture.
2. Wear Sunscreen
Working out is a great way to keep fit, but without sunscreen all that time outside could be doing damage to your body.
3. Drink plenty of water
During your run or ride, drink water every 15 minutes whether you want to or not. Additionally, remember coffee, tea, energy drinks and alcohol can all dehydrate you.
4. Eat after you exercise
You need sodium and potassium to replenish your electrolytes as well as protein and carbohydrates to build muscle and regain your energy.
5. Think about the time of the day and location
One of the easiest ways to have a workout that's fun, safe and cool is to schedule it around nonpeak sun hours and stay off pavement, which absorbs the sun's heat. Instead, go for a run on sand or grass and work out in the morning or evening.
6. Go Swimming
Swimming is a great and often overlooked cardiovascular activity. It can help you burn calories without risk of overheating and it protects your joints from a variety of damage.
7. Split time between indoor and outdoor activities
Enjoy the weather outside and the gym as well. Be smart in the sun by dividing your time between indoor and outdoor activities fairly evenly.
