Include veggies into the Family Diet

Veggies are tasty and perfect for calorie-counting families who want to stay trim, healthy, and prevent diseases. Dietician Elizabeth Somer, RD, M.A., says it's not difficult to incorporate tasty veggies into the family diet. But she says parents have to set the example, eating and loving vegetables themselves if they want their children to do the same. Besides, those antioxidant-rich veggies pack a wealth of vitamins, minerals, and fiber for few calories. For example, a half cup (or about four ounces) of baby carrots supplies only 26 calories compared to the 575 calories in an equal weight of potato chips.
